HD Masonry carves and finishes concrete so it looks like natural stone, and ties into the water, the patio, and the slope. The goal is one seamless piece of landscape, not a fake cave stuck on the side of the pool.

How Grottos or Faux Rock Features are Built
A grotto or faux-rock feature is structure first, sculpture second
We build a solid frame with steel and shotcrete, then carve, and color the surface so joint, ledges, and water paths look like stone. Plumbing, lighting, slides or benches are surrounded with carved concrete giving the illusion of only rock and water rather than equipment.
Grottos
Cave-style cover over part of a pool or pond. provides a shady place to sit in the water, typically has water flowing off the face.
Carved Waterfalls
For a more durable finish you may opt for a carved waterfall rather than natural stone. We ha to for this for Gilbert the Grizzly as hie was too likely to topple unsecured boulders into the pond below.
Faux Rock walls and Boulders
Logistics often restrict the seting of large boulder or boulder retaining walls carved concrete allows you to get the look you want in the space that may not accommodate it.

Common Concerns
- Look — Cheap faux rock looks fake. We carve, texture, and color on site so it matches the stone around it.
- Cost — Often comes in at the same cost or cheaper than a natural stone build
- Existing Pool — Many grottos and rock edges are additions. Some pools need extra structure, we say so before we start.
- Maintenance — Stone face is low upkeep. keep water moving and winterize plumbing the same as any waterfall.
- Timeline — Carving and coloring take weather windows. We plan that into the schedule.
